The Coyote Kings of the Space-Age Bachelor Pad
The Coyote Kings of the Space-Age Bachelor Pad | Minister Faust
4 posts | 2 read | 6 to read
Hamza and Yehat are The Coyote Kings–best friends, one a disgruntled dishwasher and the other a video store clerk, but each brilliant in his own right. Yehat builds prototypes of space-age inventions in his spare time, while Hamza, a former English honors student who was kicked out of the university, writes lush, lyrical poems when he’s not blocked–which, these days, is nearly always. When the gorgeous, mysterious Sherem shows up in E-Town decked out in desert finery, Hamza’s creative spark is ignited. Who is this sophisticated woman that speaks arcane African tongues, quotes from obscure comics and Star Wars movies, yet seems somehow too ethereal for the world Hamza inhabits? And what is the lost artifact that she and a cast of coiffed collectors and criminal cultists so desperately seek? As Hamza falls blindly in love with Sherem, little does he know that he and Yehat play the biggest part of all in the recovery of the ancient relic–and in the future of all living beings. . . . #BlackVoices @ShyBookOwl

This book by Malcolm Azania aka Minister Faust is about Hamza and Yehat, two guys who just want to help out their community in Edmonton, chill on the couch and watch anime, and work on their homemade mech suit. Then a femme fatale shows up to draw them into a dangerous quest for ancient Egyptian magics.

Hamza was probably the first Muslim MC I had encountered in a novel, which was mind-expanding in the early 2000s.

TobeyTheScavengerMonk I love this book so much, you guys. 4y

Hamza and Yehat, the Coyote Kings, spend their days in Edmonton working minimum-wage jobs, watching anime, designing mech suits, and helping out in their community. When a femme fatale shows up with an ancient relic, pursued by a group of D&D playing mercenaries called the Fan Boys, they may just have to save the world.

In Alchemists of Kush, 2 child soldiers gain superpowers, one in ancient Egypt - one now. #FierceFeb

#thistitleequalsgreatbandname 1 of 3

LoveStar - An early '70s synth-rock band ala Styx. The lead singer only answers to "Captain LoveStar". So many lasers.

The Coyote Kings of the Space-Age Bachelor Pad - A pseudo-reggae jam band that never plays gigs because they spend their practices eating tacos and watching anime.
