😭 So this is a short story, the actual book is 59 pages, but some of that is photographs of Dr Grenfell and his dogs, and some of it is an account from one of the rescue team.

This is a good but awful story. In order to survive after his sled fell through the ice, Dr Grenfell had to skin three of his dogs for clothing and then make a flagpole from their bones. I had to put this down after reading that bit, but overall a good survival story.

This one is from my physical TBR shelf, and is a story featuring a doctor from #Newfoundland as part of my personal challenge to read more #canadian authors.

A #shortstory (to help me get through my #readingslump) about #arctic #survival. Grenfell and his #dogs were stranded on an #icepan. It seemed #hopeless in the beginning, but his rescue effort were nothing short of a #miracle. #bookstagram #booknerd #booknerdigan #bookworm #bibliophage #readforlife #nonfiction #quickread #librarybooks #read150 #calgarylibrary
