The violence of imposed identities....
A prize I won from Albertine Books!
What the elusive (and shy) hubby/author #rickcrilly is reading at the cottage #whatauthorsread #litsypartyoftwo
Remarkable novel about an Austrian musicologist's musings about Orientalism (the representation of Asia, especially the Middle East, in a stereotyped way that is regarded as embodying a colonialist attitude) in European culture, but particularly in music. The author gathers together numerous composers, poets, historians, translators, and adventurers all in a glorious tapestry of Eastern design. Not for everyone, but a stunning book.
I'm not doing #deweys24hourreadathon this weekend, but my stack of library books and I wish everyone many hours of happy reading!

Compass is a erudite novel - where is the story of unrequited love between two researchers of the Orient just a connecting point between lectures about relevance and impact of the Orient on European literature and music. Important topic for today's world, but the form of this novel is not exactly for my reading taste.

Book eight from #ManBookerInternationalPrize longlist. My plan was to read complete longlist before shortlist will be announced on April 20, and I still have to read 4 more. So, this book for me is #dropeverythingandread
I don't know if it's worth it, but we'll see.
