Legacy
Legacy: A Novel | Danielle Steel
BONUS: This edition contains an excerpt from Danielle Steel's Hotel Vendome. This compelling, centuries-spanning novel brilliantly interweaves the lives of two womena writer working in the heart of modern academia and a daring young Sioux Indian on an incredible journey in the eighteenth century. The result is an unforgettable story of courage in the face of the unknown. LEGACY At the age of thirty-eight, Brigitte Nicholson has a job she likes, a man she loves, and a book shes writing that she will finishsomeday. Someday is Brigittes watchword. Someday she and Ted will clarify their relationship. Someday she will stop playing it so safe. Then, on a snowy day in Boston, Brigittes life is jolted and everything she has counted on changes. As she struggles to plot a new course, Brigitte agrees to help her mother on a family genealogy project and makes a stunning discovery that reaches back to the French aristocracy. How did Brigittes mysterious ancestor Wachiwi, a Dakota Sioux, travel from the Great Plains to the French court of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette? How did she come to marry into Brigittes family? What is the truth behind the tantalizing clues in the fragmented, centuries-old records? Traveling from South Dakota to Paris, following the threads of Wachiwis life, Brigitte finds herself in the forefront of her own story. With a powerful family legacy coming to life around her, someday is no longer in the future. Instead, in Danielle Steels mesmerizing novel, someday is now.

Is there a rule that all paperback exchanges, at rest stops, ferry terminals, airport lounges and hotel lobbies, must be at least one-quarter Danielle Steele novels and one-quarter Dean Koontz?

A 2010 release that I somehow missed during my husband's cancer diagnosis. I only recently discovered that I had missed it and just read this. How does Daniel still keep doing it? As many books as she's written and each one still seems fresh and different! This one was particularly interesting as Brigitte researches her family ancestry discovering ties to the Sioux Indians and French aristocracy. Fascinating!

So I grabbed this to listen on audiobooks at the library. Wanted an easy story for my commute, did not love it as the narrator was a male and this book is all about women. Then it happened, we get to hear about the Sioux female ancestor! CD four is scratched!!! Ran to the library to get the book, it's weird starting a book at Chapter 9! I've read some of Danielle Steel's books, I loved this one!
