julesG The cat we had when I grew up, more or less demanded her own chair at the table. If she wasn't allowed one, she'd sit next to the table caterwauling. 5y

My Pet Human | Yasmine Surovec

Treat joined me for this portion of #24in48, which only makes sense. She‘s got the family well-trained. My Pet Human would make a fun gift for cat lovers, but I can especially see young kids making connections with this book. Surovec touches on pet care, making new friends, & supporting old friends & includes an element of danger/suspense. Kids will also like the author interview in the back. I‘m adding “gigil” to my list of favorite words.

My Pet Human by Surovec Yasmine is a modern fantasy novel that is a Sunshine State Young Readers Award Winner in 2016-2017, I would use it in my classroom for partner reading. It is a funny story about a cat named Oliver who doesn‘t have a home and prefers it that way, until a freckled-face girl moves into his neighborhood and adopts him and changes his independent kitty ways.

ChristinB I would utilize UDL 1.3 offer alternatives for visual information, as it‘s an illustrated novel. I will use ESOL strategy 32, use students‘ pairs for team learning.
