Loved this one! The two main characters were so sweet and likable. I enjoyed the letter format between the two young penpals. It also had all the feels, bringing laughter and tears to my eyes more than once! My daughter kept asking me what on earth I was reading, I hope she will read this one too when she gets a little older. 🖤🧡💛🧡🖤

Just now made it to the 1 hour mark for #EasterExtracaganza. I'm using the tagged book for #BBRC prompt middle grade 250+ pgs. On Amazon .99 Absolutely loving it so far! Written in letter form between two 12 year old kids who become pen pals through a school program. Meena is a girl who lives in New York City, somewhat recently imigrated from India and River a boy from a mountain town in Kentucky. Also pictured, my sleeping reading buddy, Katniss.

Silas House mentioned this on insta, &I knew I had to read it (not sure how I missed it). I ❤️this book! I bought it yesterday even though I wasn‘t finished with the library copy yet. A kid from eastern Ky becomes pen pals in 2008 w/ an Indian girl in NYC. They learn about each other in letters & share some struggles. It‘s such a sweet MG book about friendship & realizing that we are more alike than we think. Some great lessons on activism 👇

Scochrane26 (Mountaintop removal is a major plot point), love of nature, racism, & accepting others without feeling preachy. Diverse characters & families dealing with hardships. I enjoyed learning some Indian culture. And a grandmother who is an outspoken “treehugger” activist. House said some teachers use this in their class, & I think it would be a great book for all students to read. My pic didn‘t get the other author—she is Neela Vaswani. (edited) 4y
