Woohoo! I've finished all of the books on the 3rd-5th grade list of William Allen White Book Award nominees! I really enjoyed most of the nominees this year. I can't wait to introduce my students to these books when school starts. If I were able to vote, I'm not sure which I would vote for. There were so many great ones!

Nate has been unlucky his entire life, but that all changes when he's struck by lightning. Meanwhile, his best friend Gen doesn't believe in luck, relying on science & logic. But how can science explain the changes in Nate after the lightning? Overall, this book was just okay. It took me a while to get into the story. While it picked up in later chapters & had a great climax, I still wouldn't vote for it for the WAW Book Award.
