September reading wrap-up! Guys, I actually managed to read a lot of things this month! I finished 9 books, caught up on several stellar ARCs, participated in the #contemporaryathon , and read several books that are going to end up in favorites lists for the year. I honestly really loved everything that I picked up this month; everything was between 3.75 and 4.5 stars; faves were Sapphire Flames, Shame is an Ocean I Swim Across, & the tagged book.

I've been MIA from Litsy for a bit, but I'm back with my August #bookhaul . I tend to cope with stress by buying books, and it's been a stressful month 📚 I'm super excited to read these; the tagged book is probably my highest priority to start.

Went to see The Tempest at Shakespeare in the Park last night & enjoyed it so much that when I got home I immediately started reading Hag-Seed by Margaret Atwood, a retelling of sorts for the Hogarth Shakespeare series featuring a revenge-seeking theater director putting on a production of The Tempest at a prison. It's very good so far!

Curiouser_and_curiouser That experience would have have been awesome! The book was great but I felt a little confused as I don't know the story of The Tempest, but I would love to read it in the future, or at least see a play or movie of it which might make understanding the story easier. How cool. I love the photo you posted! 4mo

Fun fantasy romance featuring Pokemon-like magical creatures, undead assassins, and plenty of action. Hey Littens! I‘m going to BookExpo for the first time this year as a blogger (my day job‘s not book-related) and was wondering if any of you have any tips and tricks or suggestions for a first-timer! I‘ve been to BookCon twice before & loved it, but it sounds like BEA is a lot different. Hoping to see some of you Littens there! 💜📚 #bookexpo #bookcon

LibrarianRyan Be polite and talk to the publishers about the books. Dont just dash and grab. Go over your book religiously. Divide your arc grabs into can‘t live with out, really, want, would be nice. Go for the can‘t live without first. Those always run out the fastest. Figure out which publishers will be dropping twitter question, and make sure to set your twitter account for push notifications. And lastly, if he is there, hook we with @MrBook he‘s a friendly 6mo

MrBook @Reecaspieces is another long-time veteran. 😎👍🏻👍🏻 6mo
Reecaspieces Oh boy! If you ship books home....we need to talk. Pick up only books you want...this is important. Trust me. They are everywhere and you want them all...be selective. Make a plan....who you want to see, what book drop you want, etc... 6mo
irre Definitely bring a rolling suitcase to check in so you can make trips to put all the books you grabbed there. 6mo
Beachesnbooks @TheSpineView Yes comfy shoes!! My feet were killing me after bookcon last year. Thanks 😄 6mo
Beachesnbooks @MrBook Thank you!! Will do 👍🏼 6mo
Beachesnbooks @Reecaspieces Thanks!! That‘s def helpful. I wish I could read infinite numbers of books but I know that‘s not possible lol so I will be very selective! 6mo
Beachesnbooks @irre I‘m worried that if I bring a rolling suitcase I will be tempted to pick up way too many books 😂 6mo
Reecaspieces @Beachesnbooks oh...you will be tempted....no doubt...has nothing to do with the rolling suitcase 6mo
Reecaspieces @Beachesnbooks and if you don‘t bring a rolling suitcase...you will wish you had. Trust me 6mo
Beachesnbooks @Reecaspieces 😂😂 I will take your word for it & bring one!! 6mo
MidnightBookGirl If your ship books home, please go to the post office a few blocks away, it's a lot cheaper to ship Media Mail! If you're lucky to be traveling by car or train, just bring extra luggage, Amtrak does charge for extra luggage, but it's only 20 bucks per bag.

If you have business cards, bring them! If someone gives you theirs, try to jot down a note as to when/where you met them. You'll be meeting tons of people, and there's so much going.
6mo
MidnightBookGirl Also, bring a ones if you're going to be spending time in the Autograph area, they have boxes for tips for all the volunteers working to keep the lines manageable. Bring snacks and a water bottle to refill- they do have lots of places to eat and drink now (even on the floor), but it's expensive. Take a few breaks. You can't do everything, and you'll wear yourself out trying too. Your feet will thank you. Also if you end up with lots of books, 6mo
MidnightBookGirl you can take them to the baggage area and put them in your checked luggage and then get back on the floor. This will be a kindness to your shoulders. There's tote bag giveaways everywhere, which can really help. And I know it's been mentioned, but comfortable shoes really are necessary. Bring some tissues and bandaids and headache meds you might need, just in case.
6mo
MidnightBookGirl @MrBook The slack group is still up for last year if you want to ise that? I couldn't go last year, but ai still had the invite link and it still works. 6mo

The reviews on Litsy & GR aren‘t great for this one, but I ended up loving it. Three friends, flawed & unlikable in different ways, find their lives on pause when they attempt to live a life “in health” in a house in rural Arkansas. We learn their self-destructive patterns even as they pretend to themselves that what they‘re doing has more meaning than it does. I found it incisive, darkly funny, and a fast read. #botm

This was, hands down, my favorite book in the Reluctant Royals series so far. A Prince on Paper had all of the awesomeness from the first two books in the series--extremely supportive female friendships, political drama and intrigue, imaginary countries, etc--with the addition of a central romance that had, in my opinion, much more chemistry than the previous two books combined.

(I‘m not actually at the beach, this is an old photo 😂) but this was a cute/funny contemporary fantasy about Bridger navigating school and whether he‘s ready to come out as bisexual when two earth-shattering things happen: a cute boy moves into town and he gets a job assisting an intermediary between our world and the world of myth.
