Not for me; it's too gossipy and the characters are kind of mean.
An interesting connection between women‘s sufferage and the rise of “torture illusions” to female assistants in magic
Also is it just me or are magicians popping up everywhere lately in pop culture?
#TBRtemptation post 1! Club Deception is LA's most exclusive magician's society. Claire's in charge of Magicians WAG (Wives & Girlfriends), and the brain's behind her husband's award-winning show. Jessica, who has a secret, and Kaimi, an art expert looking for the lost Erdnase papers, join her group. When magician rivalry leads to murder, they work to uncover the truth and set things right again. #blameLitsy #blameMrBook 😎
Got a little #bookmail today. Another recent GoodReads win. This book doesn't have a lot of activity here on Litsy, so I almost feel like I'll be going in blind on this one.
I like this character-driven peek into a secret society for magicians. There are multiple POV so we hear from magicians, their wives, their interns, and outsiders. The magic tricks and lingo are fascinating and I love the characters.
This is a case where the synopsis doesn't seem to fully match the story. There is a mystery component here, but it isn't as prominent as the synopsis indicates; it factors into the story later than I think it should.
