There's a great talent here... but I'm struggling - sadly too verbose for me!
I do not know how long I sat there. I was sweating inside my hat. I set it crown-down on the bleacher seat and propped my hands on my knees and lowered my head and shut my eyes. There was a red glow inside my eyelids, a warm finger of sunlight on the back of my neck. I could smell a drowsy odor on the wind.

Not sure how I was chosen to receive this but I am so grateful!!! No one writes better stories than James Lee Burke. He is the best atmospheric writer ever I will add some quotes soon. I just feel like I am home when I read his books!
Sunny and hot - exactly how July 4th should be...and not a bad place to read a book set in Houston. This is a galley due for release in August.
