The Algiers Motel Incident
The Algiers Motel Incident | John Hersey
3 posts | 6 to read
Responding to a telephoned report of sniping, the Detroit police invaded the Algiers Motel and interrogated ten black men and two white women. By the time the interrogators left, three men had been shot to death and the others, including the women, beaten. The late Pulitzer Prize winning novelist John Hersey described the event in this book, based on months of personal investigation and detailed evidence.

Written in 1968, it is sad and scary that not much has changed since Hersey penned these words....

I wanted to read this before going to see the film, "Detroit," but that probably won't happen since it's 397 pages long. I think the window for seeing the film on the big screen may close, soon. #detroit #booksandknitting #readingandknitting #thealgiersmotel #detroitinbooks #knittingandreading #knittersoflitsy
