Bk3 of #24in48 #readathon is another Graphic Novel collection. I first heard of this series after seeing the movie with Cara Delevingne & Rihanna. It was silly & funny & I loved it, so of course I had to track down the comic it‘s based on. It‘s aged a bit, it was written in the late 60s so it‘s a bit sexist honestly, but it‘s still a lot of fun. Also another #BookspinBingo read.
#BookMail Pt2 I recently saw the movie based on these comics, Valerian & The City Of A Thousand Planets directed by Luc Besson, and fell in love cheesy bits & all. I loved French comics as a kid, I reread every Tintin and Asterix & Obelisk book in my local library as a kid, but missed these ones. They‘re a bit dated, but still awesome. And very very French!
Great sci-fi! I can totally understand why they would have been advanced stories for their time. The character artwork is a little cartoonist compared to the stories, but once I was pulled into the story it wasn't as distracting. I recommend this to anyone that loves high science fiction.
This was great. The drawings are fantastic and the idea of the story leaves tons of room for many adventures with Valerian and Laureline. I love the old school vibe and the world that has been created. Will definitely be reading the rest of these.
Loved the movie so giving the comic a try. Have never really been into comics so this is an experiment.
Sometimes I read stuff in the original French because the library doesn't have it in English.
(Okay, I don't do it REGULARLY. This's an experiment, and maybe an unnecessary one because they licensed digital copies of most of these volumes right after I picked this omnibus up from the library. The English wait lists are long, though, so I'm still giving the French a go.) #comics
