I enjoyed this a lot in the end, though I only really settled into it today. I am agog at the developments at the end, and really want more of the story so we can get more of this slow burn.

Also, this was my #DoubleSpin and that's a blackout for #BookSpinBingo as well!

I got 2 bingos, both diagonal in May. My #Bookspin book was Our Beautiful Boys, and my #Doublespin book was Wolf Hall.

I love this series. I am rereading (listening) to them because I think I have missed some. Down a Dark Road is the 9th one in the Kate Burkholder Series by Linda Castillo.

A childhood friend, Joesph, is in prison for murder. He escapes and asks Kate Burkholder to help clear his name. Kate soon finds out there's more going on than she thought. Of course, Kate finds herself in trouble. I always think to myself, Kate, don't go meet ⬇️

MonicaLoves2Read ⬆️ that person or don't go to that place, because I know she's going to have some kind of problem.

I love that Castillo still manages to grab me. She continues to grow all the regular characters in the series, not only Kate's. I know that when I pick up one of these books, I am going to be entertained and kept engaged with the story.

If you have never read this series, and you like thrillers or police procedurals, you need to give it a try. Highly recommend.

It is Pride month!! I have thrown in a few of my #25in25 and #14booksin14weeks that are not LGBTQ to keep up my momentum but for the most part everything I read in June is always all Gay.

May was a solid reading month. Multiple #bookspinbingo along with the completion of both my #bookspin and #doublespin. There were some intense nonfiction reads, a couple fluffy books, and unexpected endings abound.

May top reads: Can't Get Enough, Trees, Remember Me, and When the Tides Held the Moon.

Thank you for hosting this fun reading challenge @thearomaofbooks!

March #BookSpin / #BookSpinBingo / #ReadYourKindle Not a big reading month for me. I was glad to read the tagged book. If you are familiar with the term or subculture - Exvangelical well Blake coined the term and created this community that gave a lot of us who come from evangelical / religious trauma backgrounds a place to feel less insane. 🩷

February #BookSpin / #BookSpinBingo / #ReadYourKindle ♥️ Two Can Play was my “Someplace Cold” #FictionalTraveler pick and my “book where the setting is cold/icy” for #TBRTarot. I ended up DNFing ACOTAR for #LittensLoveRomance 🫣 But I might try it again at some point. Maybe romantasy just isn‘t my thing. #LitsyAtoZ More on Hell Followed With Us in the next post. It was also my favorite for February.

Gissy I like your reading journal😍so pretty👌 10h
MatchlessMarie @Gissy Thank you! I‘m a lefty so I try to counter my chicken scratch with stickers 🤭 10h
