Horizon
Horizon | Scott Westerfeld
5 posts | 8 read | 4 to read
This harrowing tale of supernatural suspense kicks off a new series from the visionary mind of #1 New York Times bestselling author Scott Westerfeld. When a plane crash-lands in the arctic, eight young survivors step from the wreckage expecting to see nothing but ice and snow. Instead they find themselves lost in a strange jungle with no way to get home and little hope of rescue. Food is running out. Water is scarce. And the jungle is full of threats unlike anything the survivors have ever seen before--from razor-beaked shredder birds to carnivorous vines and much, much worse. With danger at every turn, these eight kids must learn to work together to survive. But cliques and rivalries threaten to tear them apart. And not everyone will make it out of the jungle alive. BONUS! In the Horizon multiplatform experience, you're not just reading about the castaways, you're one of them. Join the race for survival in the FREE game, available on your browser and as an app.

Fast-paced & action-packed, this was a pretty enjoyable read! The characters were pretty well rounded and so smart! They're handling things in their own unique ways, which is cool. Either way, looking forward to borrowing the next two from work. This series is written by Westerfeld, but each book it looks like will be co-written? by another YA author. Next up is the author of the False Prince.

night_shift There's also a mobile game to play along with the books, but I haven't checked it out yet! 7y
night_shift Oh and apparently it's been called the sci-fi version of this book, but I haven't read it so I don't know. 7y

Mehso-so

I thought this was going to be a graphic novel, but it was till super fun. A plane crashes and only some teens survive to explore the world around them, which is not what it should be.

My daughter's #tbr for the rest of May. I like the variety! Many of these are part of our Book to Movie summer challenge (read the book, watch the movie). She's getting a head start. 😆 #MayTBR #TBRPile #BookNerd
