From A to Z, the Penguin Drop Caps series collects 26 unique hardcoversfeaturing cover art by Jessica Hische It all begins with a letter. Fall in love with Penguin Drop Caps, a new series of twenty-six collectible and hardcover editions, each with a type cover showcasing a gorgeously illustrated letter of the alphabet. In a design collaboration between Jessica Hische and Penguin Art Director Paul Buckley, the series features unique cover art by Hische, a superstar in the world of type design and illustration, whose work has appeared everywhere from Tiffany & Co. to Wes Anderson's recent film Moonrise Kingdom to Penguin's own bestsellers Committed and Rules of Civility. With exclusive designs that have never before appeared on Hische's hugely popular Daily Drop Cap blog, the Penguin Drop Caps series launches with six perennial favorites to give as elegant gifts, or to showcase on your own shelves.L is for Lee. Korean American Henry Park is surreptitious, B+ student of life, illegal alien, emotional alien, Yellow peril: neo-American, stranger, follower, traitor, spy or so says his wife, in the list she writes upon leaving him. Henry is forever uncertain of his place, a perpetual outsider looking at American culture from a distance. And now, a man of two worlds, he is beginning to fear that he has betrayed both and belongs to neither. Chang-Rae Lees first novel Native Speaker is a raw and lyrical evocation of the immigrant experience and of the question of identity itself.

So excited Native Speaker came up when Ann Patchett just talked about it Friday! Also very excited for Ace Voices. Two of the audiobooks I‘ve bailed on before - Shopping and Don‘t Talk About, so I‘m a little worried there! #roll100

Nice to see the violet in bloom!

My TBR currently sits at 964. My goal for the year is to get that number below 900. That includes new purchases.

I've just started this and wow it's so good! My copy is nearly falling apart but if I love it I'll probably invest in one that is in one piece.

Interesting use of a spy narrative to examine the natural alienation and fluid identity that makes up life for so many first-generation Americans, where the daily movements between home and the outside world are like passing back and forth between two countries with distinct cultures. Doesn't always hit the mark and the writing is a bit over the top in places, but the ambition is appreciated.

// ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ // This is a book about immigrant life, race relations, identity, belonging, tradition, necessary change, and so much more all marvelously packaged in great storytelling.

I did not want to rush through the pages of Native Speaker; it‘s a quiet read that provoked thought, gave insight, and touched me. A beautifully told story.

Lazy Saturday reading in bed with three dogs and Chang-Rae Lee. Isn't this book gorgeous? My lovely ex boss bought me a bunch of these Penguin Drop Caps special editions as a going away present. Now I'm obsessed with eventually collecting the entire A-Z set.

BooksTeasAndBookishThings I saw those on a @bookriot post and I totally want them! They are so beautiful! 8y
Yamich49 Aren't they gorgeous? I found one of them late last year at my local used bookstore still in its plastic wrap for $5! It was Middlemarch and a very pretty yellow. These editions make me nervous for bath time reading though lol 8y
