A Buddy read with @Andrew65 and @Tove_Reads. This was a great read about The Amber Room which was stolen by Himmler during WWII. Loved the characters of Julia and Sam and was happy to see them end up together. Happy to see the nasty Maya and Creighton get their just desserts. I‘m looking forward to reading The Book of Spies next by Gayle Lynds, one of my #makemereadit books for August. If you haven‘t read any of Lynd‘s books, I think you should!

Andrew65 This was an enjoyable book and I enjoyed the story, but just felt at points it was too wordy and needed a bit more pace in the story line. I gave it four stars. 6y

Andrew65 @EadieB Definitely and I just felt it tarnished my enjoyment a bit. The last part of the book felt a bit of hard work to read as a result. Love long books but difficult to keep the tension in a thriller if the book is too long, and I think this suffered from that but it was her first book. (edited) 6y

Finished my first book during the #24B4Monday Readathon, and made a good start with almost 4 hours on the clock. Mosaic was a good thriller, without really getting into the great thriller territory. Some good characters, a good plot and some good action, just felt it was a touch long winded and would have been better being a little bit shorter and more to the point. I do like the way Gayle Lynds brought conversion disorder into the plot. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Tove_Reads Wow, this one moves fast, but that is Lynds for you! It has it all... money, fame, power, politics, murder, things going wrong... but, didn‘t expect Marguerite to be Creighton‘s sister. Will Julia, or when will Julia gain her sight back? 6y

Andrew65 @Tove_Reads How tragic to get your sight back and then lose it again a couple of hours later! Not to mention he death of her mother. 6y

Tove_Reads @Andrew65 Indeed. A lot of action within the first 100+ pages. I expected nothing less. Seems like quite the dirty family. There must be more to come. I wonder if C will become president? 6y

Tove_Reads @andrew65 I‘m sure a lot will happen before the bitter end. I find this to be a bit different, but so far a really good read. I wonder if the old man still has a say. Maya Stern is also an interesting character. 6y

EadieB @Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I would think it was the shock of her father‘s death but she keeps asking if something else happened that night and maybe her ring had something to do with it. Maybe something to do with the amber? 6y

Andrew65 @EadieB I definitely think there was more to it than her father‘s death. Don‘t think it was an accident. Things do definitely seem to be connected to that ring! Good to be back with the Amber Room! It does seem central to all that is going on. @Tove_Reads (edited) 6y

Tove_Reads @Andrew65 @EadieB Well, of course there are Nazis involved. The Amber Room seems to be a big part of the plot. The death of Orion was just so wrong. His wife must be in a shock. 6y

EadieB @Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I finished the 2nd part. We did a group read of Steve Berry‘s book The Amber Room. It was a very interesting read. I can‘t believe Julia‘s family is trying to kill her. How ruthless is that? Glad she has Sam to help her. 6y

Andrew65 @Tove_Reads You just knew Orion was going to be killed, but didn‘t see Julia being blamed! I second what Eadie said I really enjoyed Steve Berry‘s The Amber Room. What a B that Creighton is. Willing to kill his whole family in order to become President! There should some ruling about giving your family positions! Took a long time for Sam and Julia to get together! Can‘t beat a good Nazi, and particular Himmler, backdrop to a thriller. 😂 @EadieB 6y

Andrew65 Now finished the third section, and it looks as though things are hotting up and getting interesting. I think Lyle and Julia will foil Creighton‘s election plans 🙏. Definitely think this has something to do with Amber and the Amber Room. Strange how just a picture of the ring caused her blindness to come on again. Creighton is a real scumbag and his family are just as bad! Lyle must be so proud. 😂 @EadieB @Tove_Reads 6y

Tove_Reads Many things were predictable, so I was a bit disappointed, but overall a good book! We all knew they were drugging Lyle, we knew they had stolen the Amber Room, we knew Sam and Julia would end up together, we knew C wouldn‘t become president, right? @Andrew65 @EadieB (edited) 6y

EadieB @Andrew65 @Tove_Reads I just finished the last part. I was surprised that the priest was Maas‘ son. Not surprised that Maya and Creighton were killed by Julia and that Creighton lost the election. Loved the story and that Julie and Sam end up together. 6y

Andrew65 @EadieB Yes I hadn‘t worked out the connection of the priest. Maya and Creighton deserved to die. Never figured out Creighton had killed her father. What a Prince among men he was! We just knew Sam and Julia would both survive and end up together. I just felt at points the story seemed to be going on too long and could have been edited to be shorter. Most books take around 8 hours and thus took 13 1/2 hours. 6y
