Bun is a 14yr old forced out of her home by her abusive hoarder mother. Educated on the books and movies piled in their house, Bun doesn‘t really understand people and this gets her into some bizarre situations. She‘s eventually taken in by a group of misfits who are determined to support her and love one another despite their meager circumstances.

Excellent YA, absolutely loved it!

Sandra Gulland is a favourite historical author of mine. I love love looove her Josephine B. trilogy! ❤️

According to her Goodreads reviews, one of her favourite books is The Agony of Bun O'Keefe. I've followed Sandra's recommendation's before, so I'm totally stacking this one too!

There's a lot to unpack in this book! Bun O'Keefe is a quirky, lovable character whose family fell apart. Luckily for her, she soon found a new family that came to love her for who she was. For such a young person, she dealt with a lot. Her stories, and the stories of those around her, were truly awful to read about, let alone experience. Yet she came out on top and was able to find her silver lining, of sorts, despite all the awfulness. 3/5⭐️

It's a short Cybils read! So many people raved about it to me so now I'm super curious.

This simultaneously broke my heart & filled my heart with joy. The characters were hands down the best part. Bun was a precious cinnamon roll. Busker Boy was the sweetest. The way he took care of Bun was so heartwarming. Chef, Big Eyes, and Chris/Cher complete their family of misfits and I loved them. They had their own issues but came together to help Bun. I loved the 80's pop culture references. Overall, this book was insanely good!

Currently Reading. This book is so good so far.
