Tove Jansson has such a light touch! These short stories (some only three or four pages long, more vignettes than stories per se) are momentous in the sense that they turn on a moment that might easily be missed. As for their subject matter, I'd say they're about the accommodations we find ourselves making around others or the more "other" aspects of ourselves. They're a joy to read.
