This Beautiful Day
This Beautiful Day | Richard Jackson

In the tradition of Were Going on a Bear Hunt, acclaimed author Richard Jackson and award-winning illustrator Suzy Lee prove you can chase away any grey and gloomy day with just the right attitude, and a little bit of color. Why spend a rainy day inside? As three children embrace a grey day, they seems to beckon the bright as they jump, splash, and dance outside, chasing the rain away. The days palette shifts from greys to a hint of blue, then more blue. Then green! Then yellow! Until the day is a technicolor extravaganza that would make Mary Poppins proud. A joyous homage to the power of a positive attitude.

#CoverStories Day 9: #Umbrella - Suzy Lee plays with colours here: the drab greys broken with the occasional splash of blue initially, then you can see a slight green peeking through. And as the sun shines, there is a psychedelic burst of colours that is nothing short of magical. My review: https://wp.me/pDlzr-hfE

I think this book showed that even on normal day you could look around and make a day a great day. Not everyday you realize how awesome it could be if you just laugh and smile and have fun.

I liked this book but it wasn‘t my favorite. I liked how most of the book was in black and white but there was a little blue.

I loved how the author made a gloomy day into a bright one by doing simple things like jumping in puddles

This book was published in 2017 and has won many book awards. It shows how to make a gloomy day bright and sunny and turn it around. It is definitely for younger children, it does not have that many words on each page but is a great book.

This Beautiful day, by Richard Jackson and illustrated by Suzy Lee is a Hans Christian Andersen Award winning book (2017). This book portrays a beautiful example of how to make a “bad” day good. It focuses on the idea that if you have a positive mindset and attitude no “bad” day can be that bad.

I love the illustrations in this book. They are bright and colorful and add so much to the words written on the pages.

This Hans Christian Andersen Award winning book takes the reader on a silly and fun journey. The day starts rainy and cold but that does not stop the characters from dancing, spinning, stamping, and stomping. As the day progresses the sun starts to shine allowing the fun to be taken outside. The beautiful illustrations depict the words on the page excellently.

This book received a gold award for the illustrations and was published in 2017. It looks as if a child had colored them with a pencil making the book more enjoyable to read! Children can look at it and think to themselves they are capable to do the same! Overall I enjoyed the book and looking at the illustrations

#HeatOfJuly Day 11: A lot of #Umbrella(s) featured in this book illustrated by the inimitable Suzy Lee. The children‘s romp brought them outdoors despite the rain, with #umbrella(s) in their hands, their feet and imagination taking them on a journey. Since @smilingshelves posted her library stack, I thought I‘d post mine too! Friday night toddler-less visit means I came home with a big pile. BUT only the pile on the right was from tonight. The rest I already had checked out (and I probably missed some!) which begs the question, WHY did I need to go to the library in the first place? 🤷‍♀️📖📚 All those picture books are not for the 2 year old — I‘m making up for lost time over the years!

smilingshelves I do that, too! Quite a few books in my stack were to help me finish up the Picture Book Challenge. And I grab lots of books that I know my son won't get anything out of yet, but I want to read! 😄 7y
