Umbrella Over Berlin | Cao Wenxuan
post image

This seemed like a boring and somewhat pointless picture book. This guy takes an umbrella to Berlin, promises it it‘ll see Berlin, but then never needs it. Indignant, the umbrella jumps out the window and floats over the city for like… 3 pages? #Picturebook #Umbrella

This is the picture book selection for my library‘s 2023 Community Read program. The art and colors are lovely. The story is simple and sweet. The umbrella always has room and makes room to shelter those in need. 💙

The Big Umbrella, by Amy June Bates and Juniper Bates, and illustrated by Amy June Bates is published on February 6th, 2018. This book is a fictional children's book and won the Carolyn W. Field Award (PA). A child in a yellow slicker takes a big, red umbrella out on a rainy day. The umbrella helps everyone stay dry, no matter if they are tall, hairy, plaid, or have four legs. It likes to take people (and other creatures) in and give them shelter.

I really enjoyed this book. This book didn‘t have any words but I felt it was still powerful. I think it‘s a nice little book with beautiful illustrations to show a classroom.

Gorgeous lush illustrations. Carlos walks into the cloud forest to spot some animals. Leaving his umbrella at the foot of a tree, he climbs up to see what he can see. A tree frog sees the puddle forming in the upturned umbrella, and settles in. Other animals soon find a use for it, and adventure ensues. Spanish words are dotted throughout the book.

mom2bugnbee Anything she writes is absolutely amazing. We had the privilege to meet her years ago on a book tour, & she couldn't have been more engaging & kind with my (then) young girls. 4y
