GatheringBooks This morning‘s session was a three-hour long intense conversation about books, with sharing done by three educators about children‘s response to books, questions pertaining to classroom management vs student engagement during read-alouds, and me bringing my usual suitcase of books. 🧚🏼‍♀️📚😍 6y

The Asian Pacific American Literature Award “Cora Cooks Pancit” by Dorina K. Lazo Gilmore, illustrated by Kristi Valiant is a Fiction book that would perfect for a GR. Cora always gets stuck doing the little kids job in the kitchen when it comes to cooking. But one day her siblings went out for the day and got the opportunity to cook a traditional filipino dish, pancit, with her mother.

supan.katherine http://janismanteachingportfolio.weebly.com/uploads/8/7/9/5/8795363/traveling_bo... lesson plan includes a chance for students to create their own read aloud for the book. It also includes a reflection questions after reading, as well as some activities that involve cooking at home. 6y

DrSpalding Fantastic! You are the only one to seek out a book that has been given an award for Asian literature. Looks wonderful. Helpful to use while teaching about other cultures and traditions. 6y
elifkelly This book looks great, it‘s always important to have books from different cultural backgrounds and I think this one would be perfect for an elementary classroom! 6y
