These are the products of the imagination, deception, and human error: an archipelago of ex-islands and forgotten lands. From the well-known story of Atlantis and the mysteries of frozen Thule to more obscure tales from around the globe, and from ancient history right up to the present day, this is an atlas of legend and wonder, with glorious illustrations by Katie Scott. Here is a beautiful book about a series of islands that were thought to exist, that were actually put on maps, whereas they didn't exist at all.
It was a very interesting read, well-written, and beautifully illustrated.

Great book and a fun escape, although I do wish there were maps to orient me. The art was lovely though! ⚓️

This is a delightful illustrated book of islands that don‘t exist. It includes mythical islands, those once thought to be real, and outright frauds. I really enjoyed this little trip around the “undiscovered” world.

Whoopsie! That‘s a bit of egg on the face! So far this book of islands that turned out not to exist is delightful!

This is a fun read 🤓 It‘s an illustrated guide to historic islands. It manages to pack so much trivia into each short vignette that I almost wanted more. My favorite was the Sarah Ann Island off the coast of Peru; I had no idea that the US government passed a Guano Act in 1856 claiming all previously undiscovered islands that contain bird dung!! This is a great bathroom book or something for a bedside table in a beach house Airbnb!

MinDea Oh, this sounds interesting!! Thanks for sharing!! 6y
