I just started Reckless, but am slowly working my way through the rock n roll goddesses. Does anyone have any recommendations for other books about women who rock?! 🤘
Up next!

Saw The Pretenders in Singapore in 2012. Even Chrissie Hynde said they were little more than a cover band by then but a great performance still. Surprised the book was quite a conventional, though insightful, autobiography. #music
I expected to dislike this as I've never been a fan and had a vaguely negative impression of Ms. Hynde. This elevated my opinion of her and I found her passion for music to win me over. Be warned, however, that this is more about pre-fame rather than her success with the Pretenders.
I love reading books about these awesome female rock n roll inspirations. Being from Ohio myself, I could identify with Hynde's descriptions of Cleveland, even if before my time. I love her drive and that she didn't divulge too much about romances- just kept it about her and the music. Reminded me of "Just Kids" by Patti Smith and Viv Albertine's memoir- two other books I recommend!!
One book down, next book added! Can't wait to start this in 2017!
Wow! I didn't know that Hynde was at Kent State during the National Guard shootings, or that she was in London with the punks when the Damned, the Clash, & the Pistols were starting out. But, overall her tales were kind of sad. As she herself writes: "this is a book about drug abuse"
