Billy and Blaze
Billy and Blaze: A Boy and His Pony | C.W. Anderson
4 posts | 3 read
Billy was a little boy who loved horses more than anything else in the world. Imagine how happy he was when he got his very own pony for his birthday! From that day on, Billy was seldom seen without his new friend, Blaze. Riding through fields and woods, Billy and Blaze learned to trust and understand one anotherand to jump over fences and fallen trees with ease. They were a great team, but were they good enough to win the gleaming silver cup at the Mason Horse Show? This is the first book in the classic Billy and Blaze series. Sensitive drawings and easy-to-read words capture the warmth and gentle understanding between a boy and his horse.

I missed a few days, but am back with Day 18 of a book from my shelves with random thoughts. First random thought - it's a crime that more of Anderson's books aren't in the database!! This one is actually titled Afraid to Ride and is about a girl who takes a bad fall off of a horse and decides to never ride again. But then her old riding instructor asks for her help with a mare who has been badly abused. Slowly, the girl & horse work together to⬇️

TheAromaofBooks (cont'd) regain their confidence.

This was always one of my favorite Anderson stories, because it's such a gentle tale. As always, his illustrations are beautiful, and the story is one that reflects his love for both horses & young people. If you have a young horse lover in your life, I highly recommend getting your hands on some of his classics ASAP!!

wordslinger42 My mom and I just found the same copy of this book when we discovered bins of books that had been packed away in our shed! 4y
TheAromaofBooks @TheSpineView - I always checked his books out of the library every time we went, and I remember being SO EXCITED the first time I went to the Columbus Metropolitan library (so huge) and found EVEN MORE OF HIS BOOKS. I even named one of my cats after him! 😂 4y
TheAromaofBooks @wordslinger42 - I haven't read this one in a while, but I remember really liking the way that the girl and the horse had to learn to trust each other. 4y

Day 17 of a book from my shelves with random thoughts is another Anderson book (this one isn't in the system). Both of these books are about a steeplechaser named Bobcat, but it has been so long since I read them that I can't remember the details!! I think High Courage is going on my July #BookSpin list!!

Leftcoastzen Ok ,now your just pushing my Anderson buttons!😂🐴 4y
TheAromaofBooks @Leftcoastzen - I still have a few more to post!! 😁 And we won't even get the children's books for months if I continue to work my way through my shelves in order! 4y
