I read this for the first time in 8th grade and didn‘t really like it. Rereading it now, 17 years later, I enjoyed it a lot more. The characters act their ages and interact in realistic ways. I also liked all of the references to The Odyssey sprinkled throughout, and I‘m always a fan of epistolary novels.
Mary Lou Finney is less than excited about her assignment to keep a journal over the summer. Boring! Then cousin Carl Ray comes to stay with her family, and what starts out as the dull dog days of summer quickly turns into the wildest roller coaster ride of all time! ❤️ Sharon Creech❤️

I‘ve been mostly absent from Litsy for a while now - I got busy at work, and I found a new hobby (#powerlifting), and for awhile I wasn‘t enjoying books the way I usually do. Which was my own fault - I tend to set really ambitious goals for myself (Read all the Hugo/Nebula/Locus Award nominees!) and force myself through them even when it‘s awful. But I‘m back! pickAbsolutely Normal Chaos is an RF novel by Sharon Creech that would be good for an IR. This book is told from the perspective of a teenage girl writing in her journal for a school project - she also reviews Greek literature for another school project within it! This book teaches vocabulary, literature, and lessons about friends and family. I read it until it fell apart as a kid! #LAE3414sp19
