Magic Steps
Magic Steps | Tamora Pierce
7 posts | 48 read | 7 to read
Part of the 8-book Tamora Pierce reissue for Fall 2006, this title in the Circle Opens quartet features spellbinding new cover art. Concides with the release of WILL OF THE EMPRESS in trade pb. Lady Sandrilene fa Toren knows all about unusual magic--she herself spins and weaves it like thread. But when she witnesses a boy dancing a spell, even she is confounded. To her dismay she gets news of a mysterious murderer stalking a clan of local merchants. The killer employs the strangest magic of all: the ability to reduce essence to nothingness. As the murders mount and the killer grows bolder, Sandry's teaching takes on a grave purpose. It becomes clear to everyone that the killings can only be stopped by the combined magic of two people: the young teacher and her even younger student.

Y‘all I love this book and these characters. Sandry has always been one of my favourite character from the first time I read ‘start lapping kitty‘ and she shines in this book. Pasco, though not one of my favourites is a lovely contrast for dear Sandry who despite only being 14 is mature in all the ways tragedy makes you and I still love him dearly.

Don‘t mind the picture I forgot to take a decent one before I gave my sister her copy back.

I love seeing these characters grow and continue to help others! Just as good as the first quartet so far. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Bkwrm7 I love the Circle world books so much! I hope Pierce writes more of them eventually. 2y

Pierce mentions in the afternote that she decided the continuation of the Circle series should focus on the main characters taking the next step in their magical education - the point where they pick up students of their own. Thus, you really need to have read and remembered the original series to understand the characterizations and why Sandry feels such imposter syndrome in becoming the instructor.

I haven't met my step goals for the last couple days, but today exceeded it by 2500, so I'm happy. I also didn't meet my 10 minutes a day of pilates, but finally started today. My aim is to make up for it over the week.

Dawnrod1970 I haven‘t met by step goal either. We got this though :) 5y

Saturday morning #bookandbreakfast. I haven't been sleeping well (read: past 6 o'clock) for several months, but usually I stay in bed for a while longer....however, with my parents' dogs (my diblings - dog siblings) staying with us for the foreseeable future, staying in bed isn't an option. Taking advantage of the quiet now that they're fed & walked to start what I hope will be a quick read. #Emelan #currentlyreading #shhimtryingtoread
