From the #1 "New York Times" bestselling author of the Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants series, "The Here and Now" is an epic star-crossed romance about a girl who might be able to save the world . . . if she lets go of the one thing she s found to hold on to. Follow the rules. Remember what happened. Never fall in love. The world Prenna James comes from is in ruins. She and the others who escaped are here to prevent humanity s destruction. But if they don t follow The Rules, everything that matters will be gone: Friends. Families. Dreams. Love. Ethan Jarves can never know Prenna s secret. That she s not from another place. She s from another time. *** "This gripping story is set in a world unlike any other and inhabited by beautifully imagined characters that stay with you long after the last page. Sara Shepard, bestselling author of "Pretty Little Liars" Fast-paced, gripping, and romantic. "Publishers Weekly " Lightning-paced . . . like a cinematic blockbuster. "Kirkus Reviews" An exciting time-travel adventure complete with murderers to thwart and mysteries to solve. "Booklist" Compelling. "School Library Journal" An appealing romantic thriller, "The Here and Now "also serves asa potent reminder that we inherit the future we buy with our actions today. Cassandra Clare for the "New York Times" Book Review " The Here and Now" could just as easily sit among the time-travel sci-fi, coming-of-age, or romantic thrillers of YA. Honestly, even though I really don't know how to categorize it, I loved it and the ending made me hope (really, really hope!) for a sequel. Happily Ever After/USA Today"

It pains me to say this, because I loved the Travelling Pants series, but Brashares really forked the duck on this one. It started off good, but right around the time the main characters realize they have 3 days to save the world, it falls apart when they spend those 3 days playing cards and trying not to have sex. The time traveling time lines are all messed up, and I really don't think Brashares gives young readers enough credit with this one.

This book about young love and time travelers and escaping your future kept me up late last night. No regrets!

This one involved time travel and changing the world. But it was, at the end, a love story and a story about family.

This was...eh. Good, but I hated the ending so much I can‘t bring myself to give it a pick.

Definitely a departure from the sisterhood.

I really really liked this book. I hope she'll continue the series, but after getting burned by "My Name Is Memory" (which ended on a cliffhanger and was never continued), my hopes aren't high.

There was nothing spectacular about this book, but it definitely wasn't bad. The concept was interesting but I think it could have been executed more smoothly. ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #LitsyAtoZauthors @BookishMarginalia

stargazerblue49 Seems like not many people have enjoyed this. Shame. I really liked most of her other books! Have not read this one, though. 7y
cleoh @stargazerblue49 I adore her Sisterhood books! This one felt rushed and the end seemed like an easy fix. I wanted to know more about the science of time travelling and the consequences of disrupting the timeline. However I have seen some very positive reviews! I think it just wasn't the book I wanted it to be, but definitely not a bad book. 7y

This was my 1st taste of time travel genre & this book kinda made me not want to visit again. I really didn't like the writing style, the plot was all over, and the main was so flaky. The only reasons I pushed through to the end were 1. I think every book deserves a fair chance & 2. I have this horrible habit of not being able to quit a book once I've started it no matter how much I don't like it. Believe me, I've tried to stop #StruggleRead

Kris10H I thought maybe it was just me, and that I'm getting too old for this YA stuff, but I'm seeing a lot of reviews like this. If you ever want to try 'time travel' again, I suggest Dark Matter, by Blake Crouch. 4y

Time travel is what got this in my TBR pile. But the time travel is disappointingly—outrageously!—sloppy. Then there are letters sprinkled throughout to a character who is somewhat mysterious...and those letters turn out to be nonessential to the development of characters, plot, tone... Just a Chekhov's gun that finally fires a white flag w/the word "BANG" on it. Twists were predictable. And the last third of the book is obliquely sex-negative.
