A #bookaboutpolitics is one of the only categories I have left in the @bookriot #readharderchallenge. But almost every political book makes me nostalgic, sad, or angry right now. Watching The Crown on Netflix inspired me to try this play as an alternative.

Imagine Charles becomes king and, for morally justifiable reasons, refuses to sign a bad bill into law. Imagine the constitutional crisis that'd ensue, the reactions of Camilla, Will & Kate, Harry. Diana's ghost popping in. That's what this play does, & does well! The ending disappoints, though.

In this fascinating near-future history play, King Charles refuses to sign the government's bill on moral principle, using powers vested in the sovereign but never used, provoking a political crisis.

Now that I've outed myself as a royalty book buff, you shan't be surprised that this is my pick for the Reading Harder challenge #23 (Read a play), right?
