#2 in the Daughters of the Mayflower series, featuring Maribel who is the great granddaughter of the female lead in The Mayflower Bride. I didn‘t love this one like I loved the first book, although I did like it. This is set during the early 1700‘s and has real history written into the story from when Spain and France were at odds during this time. Maribel is quite plucky and very likable (although her very lite romance is a little unusual).

I appreciated the writing better than the first in the series and who doesn‘t enjoy a pirate adventure? But the love story rubbed me the wrong way.

Think metaphor: a lass is a pirate‘s flower aboard his ship in the vast expanse desert of the ocean.

CocoReads That‘s a gorgeous cover! 6y
