I love a Gilded Age novel! The setting was lovely and a deaf hero and heroine from a problematic family offered a unique story that I throughlyu enjoyed! This was a quick one, finished in a day, but was the perfect read while cleaning up from our winter storm now that we have both power and water! #romantsy #FabulousFebruary @Andrew65

I can't believe I put this book off for so long. It was wonderful. There's some great/terrible info about the treatment of the deaf and "insane" in the U.S. in the late 19th century. I really enjoyed this one, and will probably jump into her next series soon.

Sace Oooo.... Just added it to my Hoopla list! 4y

This was one my favorite romances last year, so I snapped up the audiobook when it was on sale. Definitely read it. The audiobook‘s cadence is odd and the narration just feels distant.

mdemanatee If you do do the audiobook, 1.5 seems to be the sweetest spot 5y

Best I‘ve read this year. Impeccable writing and well researched. I couldn‘t put it down. Original plot, relatable characters with believable motivations. The deaf culture part of the plot is so well done. The romance is very sweet, lots of nice build up. The villains are pretty awful people, but that‘s part of the plot, a hazard of withdrawing from society rather than choosing your company. Highly recommend!

A flat-out one sitting read. I picked up my hold at the library and soon found myself eating a sandwich one-handed and trying to pour a glass of milk with only half an eye. The care and work Shupe has taken with her Deaf hero is outstanding. The plot is first-rate (fake-marriage trope, yes!). Secondary characters are excellent: Christina‘s parents are the WORST, Oliver‘s cousin is appropriately greedy, Oliver‘s little sister is endearingly spunky.

balletbookworm The best of The Four Hundred Series thus far. 5y

Don‘t mind me. Just ready to cry about a deaf hero in the latest installment of a romance series I already loved. Now I just wish I had the day off to binge this. #romantsy
