Day 28: Here are #BannedBooksIveRead. I met tagged book‘s author in New York through the kind introduction of children‘s lit historian and scholar, Leonard Marcus, whom I am proud to call my friend.

Pickpick

A nice, if not particularly distinctive, addition to the “all families are different” picture book genre. Inclusive and diverse, the illustrations are colorful, but the eyes are a little creepy. 😂

#Aprella Day 2: One of my favourite #NewYork moments - dinner treat by the inimitable children‘s lit historian Leonard Marcus, as he introduced me to Robie Harris-author of the tagged book that was unfortunately pulped by the library here in Singapore. Robie also had an archive of printed online materials about the entire pulping incident which she shared with me, alongside her other books that she generously gave to me and my daughter.

emilyhaldi Wow fascinating! I just had to google some addtl info about this pulping situation... Sad to hear that this is still happening in such contemporary cities. Has the book since been reinstated in the libraries?? 7y
Mdargusch So interesting. Thanks for sharing that. 7y
Cinfhen I googled too! So glad to see you speaking up and letting authors know that their work is important 🙌🏻‼️ 7y
Reviewsbylola Wow, that‘s awesome! 7y
Reviewsbylola The dinner, NOT the pulping. Just had to clarify! 😂 😆⬆️ 7y
