Charlotte Walsh Likes To Win
Charlotte Walsh Likes To Win | Jo Piazza

From Jo Piazza, the bestselling author of The Knock Off, How to Be Married, and Fitness Junkie, comes an exciting, insightful novel about what happens when a woman wants it allpolitical power, a happy marriage, and happinessbut isnt sure just how much shes willing to sacrifice to get it. Charlotte Walsh is running for Senate in the most important race in the country during a midterm election that will decide the balance of power in Congress. Still reeling from a presidential election that shocked and divided the country and inspired by the chance to make a difference, shes left behind her high-powered job in Silicon Valley and returned, with her husband Max and their three young daughters, to her downtrodden Pennsylvania hometown to run in the Rust Belt state. Once the campaign gets underway, Charlotte is blindsided by just how dirty her opponent is willing to fight, how harshly she is judged by the press and her peers, and how exhausting it becomes to navigate a marriage with an increasingly ambivalent and often resentful husband. When the opposition uncovers a secret that could threaten not just her campaign but everything Charlotte holds dear, she has to decide just how badly she wants to win and at what cost. A searing, suspenseful story of political ambition, marriage, class, sexual politics, and infidelity, Charlotte Walsh Likes to Win is an insightful portrait of what it takes for a woman to run for national office in America today. In a dramatic political moment like no other with more women running for office than ever before, Jo Piazzas novel is timely, engrossing, and perfect for readers on both sides of the aisle.

I loved the premise - super timely focus of a woman politician trying to succeed against a misogynistic opponent. However, I HATED the ending! ⭐️⭐️⭐️ #Netgalley

A political campaign brings out long buried secrets. It changes relationships and redefines what is normal.

Is there a more timely fiction plot than an infuriated woman returning to her hometown to run for Senate against an old, white man who has held the job, nearly unchallenged for decades? In the days before the IRL midterm elections I'd say the answer is no. I'm so glad I made time for this book since Piazza has a talent for writing relatable characters & throwing in current events to enhance the story— and she nailed the weariness of campaigning.

It took me a few chapters to get into it, but this book was a smart, funny, and timely read. I really liked Jo Piazza‘s note at the end.

I really loved this book so much. I am a political junkie and this book felt like a real look at what female running for office has to go through. I could not put this down. Even though Charlotte Walsh was imperfect she was the perfect candidate.

“You may need to do things you‘re uncomfortable with, say things you don‘t agree with, maybe even lie. Probably lie. Let‘s be honest: You‘re gonna lie a lot.”
This book is about a woman who decides to put her very successful career on hold and run for the Senate. It is effective so far in showing someone with the purest motives for serving having to play the absurd game of politics. Very fun!

This one was OK. I liked the concept, but it focused a lot on a troubled marriage and I was disappointed with the ending.

If Hillary had run BEFORE Bill, this book might be the result. Topical and relevant, this novel deals with a woman running for the Senate, her husband becoming the primary caregiver for 3 children, secrets in a marriage, and bashing by social media that criticizes her choice of flats over heels! Deeply admire any woman willing to take on this thankless job! Read on the beach and be glad you‘re there and not on the campaign trail!

Thanks to #Netgalley and #SimonandSchuster for an ARC of #CharlotteWalshLikesToWin. I‘m conflicted on my rating as I was positive this would be a 5 Star read until the last 5% of the book. This book just ends with no resolution. If there is a sequel then I would consider giving this 5 stars. This book is badass and portrays all the difficulties women encounter in our given political climate. I was dying to read this and I‘d still recommend it.
