5. I liked it. 4 Stars from me. It is a departure from the norm for Terry Brooks. A YA scifi story.

Wow. Never thought I would say this but I'm bailing, 52% in. On a Terry Brooks. This has such good reviews on Goodreads (5🌟 from Robin Hobb!) but I'm finding it hard work. The characters are 2 dimensional, the main character spends 50% of his time fawning over a pleasure synth and the other 50% worrying about everything else.
The premise of this had so much promise, and the idea is like fast and the furious with espionage and biogenetics. 👇

laurieluna I just cannot get past the 2 dimensional, basic characters. I just don't care enough. If this were a debut I'd give it 3🌟. As it is from such a seasoned author as Terry, it's getting 2🌟. #netgalley 6y
