I like old Batman. I love my characters jaded, damaged but driven, and that is Batman. This was a good Miller; I‘d say on par with Year One and Dark Knight Rises. Although at times, the story seemed disjointed and random (unsure what the ‘gangster‘ texts were for) it was still a solid story.

I loved, for once, that different artists were used throughout. I love Miller‘s harsh style but it can be a bit much for an entire book.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I picked this up at #fairfaxlibrarycon and was not so sure. Having the name Frank Miller on a graphic novel about Batman gives certain expectations. But this was a cool adventure. I liked it a lot. I don‘t follow all the dc character in their weeklys but it was still easy to follow and fun.

Blade Runner came back after 30-some years. Star Wars has a new lease of life. Couldn't The Dark Knight still work? Perhaps, but it doesn't. This has nothing of the original in it except an odd moment or two where Carrie shines. This is just a big dumb comic like a lot of other big dumb comics. The most damning thing I could say now about this project is that it's just nothing special.

I loved the story, the action, the end. I'm happy Frank Miller finally got around to finishing this series up, all good, a solid read. But I will confess, on Goodreads, I took of an entire star off for the bat symbol on Batgirl's butt and Lara' s perma-wedgie. In fact, the focus on women's butts in the third act was really distracting from the action. (Seriously, why does Batgirl need a bat symbol on her butt? This is really bothering me 😡)

Finally finished this beast (not long after Frank Miller *finally* finished it). I know his style has soured on critics but he tells (with the help of a co-writer) a good story here; and if you've read any of the Frank Miller Batman, I think this is worth your time. Beautiful artwork throughout doesn't hurt.
