21 #38 Will Daniel and Molly finally marry? 😉
Another TBR read finished finished. #WinterGames2020

This one is interesting because Rhys Bowen is trying hard to walk a delicate line between modern readers learning about New York‘s Chinatown and the US‘s horrible Exclusion Act, and modern readers hating Molly and other characters for their deep and disgusting racism. I do believe that‘s balanced here, combined with the oncoming rush of Molly & Daniel‘s wedding, but it‘s definitely iffy. (A little more in the comments.) (pic from nycchinatown.org)
This one is earlier in the Molly Murphy series than the one I just read. I‘m no fan of Daniel‘s mother (or Daniel, in some cases), but I look forward to Sid and Gus as bridesmaids! 🇨🇮🕵️♀️👒💍 #mystery
The mysteries in the Molly Murphy series won't blow your mind, but they take you on an interesting journey through 1900s NY. Each book since Vol. 7 is better than the last and it's the same with Vol. 10: Molly & Daniel bicker less, show more character-development and are finally allowed to marry, (hopefully) giving the series much needed breathing-room. Also kudos to Bowen for trying to earnestly portray anti-chinese attitudes of the era.
