Elin Hilderbrand, author of the enchanting Summer People and The Beach Club, invites you to experience the perfect getaway with her sparkling new novel. Adrienne Dealey has spent the past six years working for hotels in exotic resort towns. This summer she has decided to make Nantucket home. Left flat broke by her ex-boyfriend, she is desperate to earn some fast money. When the desirable Thatcher Smith, owner of Nantucket's hottest restaurant, is the only one to offer her a job, she wonders if she can get by with no restaurant experience. Thatcher gives Adrienne a crash course in the business...and they share an instant attraction. But there is a mystery about their situation: what is it about Fiona, the Blue Bistro's chef, that captures Thatcher's attention again and again? And why does such a successful restaurant seem to be in its final season before closing its doors for good? Despite her uncertainty, Adrienne must decide whether to open her heart for the first time, or move on, as she always does. Infused with intimate Nantucket detail and filled with the warmth of passion and the breeze of doubt, The Blue Bistro is perfect summer reading.

Slow pick but I always look forward for a quick trip to the EH world. This one made me hungry, and I was most interested in the general vibe and activity of the bistro vs the two MCs of the story. …Also, do the artists for EH covers reads her books? Nice Nantucket image, but this doesn‘t capture the essence of the story - a pic at dusk of a busy restaurant sporting a deck overlooking the ocean would do it.

TheAromaofBooks Covers that don't match the contents - that drives me CRAZY 2y
marleed @TheAromaofBooks Me too - and EH books seem to get that mismatch often! 2y
TheAromaofBooks Whenever they reprinted a bunch of Georgette Heyer books, I think in the early 2000s, they apparently were literally like “here's a random picture of women from that era, close enough!“ They never come even CLOSE to matching the story and it really annoys me haha 2y

I‘ve been on a huge Elin Hilderbrand kick lately and I really think her books are best consumed via #audiobook — they are more character driven and it‘s easier to pay attention, since sometimes it‘s hard not to let your mind wander while listening and multitasking. I loved this one because we got behind the scenes experience of working in a super fancy restaurant in Nantucket. It‘s nice seeing how the other half lives and the food descriptions ⬇️

JenlovesJT47 Had me drooling 🤤. 5⭐️ #ElinHilderbrand #Nantucket (edited) 3y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks I loved this one!! 💙 3y
marleed I spent last summer working down my Elin collection. I have one of her books left unread - just for kicks. And if I ever did make it to Nantucket I think I might be disappointed to find the community of people I‘ve grown to love - and I‘m sure would offer me a guest room - are fictional! 3y

I can‘t even express how much I loved this book! I fell in love with the setting, the characters, everything. I was constantly irritated because I had real life things happening and I couldn‘t continue reading. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I thought this would be a typical beach read, but it had a busy restaurant atmosphere, and not a beachy one. Like all her books, it‘s simple and easy to read. Lots of rich white people problems. But for whatever reason it took me a good two thirds of the way through the book before I started to care about any of the characters at all. Meh.

I thought this book was very good the first time I read it. But this time I didn‘t like it as much as I remember. What I disliked the most about this book was that Adrienne ignored so many of the red flags Thatcher was giving her and went back to him after their problematic relationship basically ended. There were also to many lose ends for my liking at the end.

Another easy beach read from Elin Hilderbrand. Much of the plot revolves around the workings in a well oiled, high end seasonal resort restaurant. I enjoyed the Nantucket location, my mouth watered over the food descriptions and the characters were likable. This was an easy 4 star read for me until about the last 10%. A disappointingly rushed and unsatisfying ending bumped this down to 3 stars. I longed for an epilogue.

The Blue Bistro was a very nice read about a beach town romance. I haven't read this book in a long while but I would definitely read it again. (:

This is my favorite Elin book to date and I've read all of them. She's a talented writer, the best for beach reads, and this is always my first recommendation for people looking to start her books.

msrowse I saw her books at the library--I'll have to grab one next time I'm there! 9y
