Getting to know our backyard birds. There‘s something magical about seeing a picture in a book and seeing the real thing at the same time. #raisingreaders

I‘m excited to learn more about the birds in my neighborhood. I may not be leaving my house anytime soon but there‘s plenty to learn and enjoy right where I am!

TheBookHippie We love that book! 5y
BookishMe I like listening to the morning warblers and other crooners outside the window of the apartment. It was only yesterday I realised the screech of a kingfisher. I was wondering how I could learn to recognise the sounds of different birds 5y
Lindy You might enjoy listening to Melissa Harrison‘s weekly nature podcast, The Stubborn Light of Things. She talks a lot about birds. https://podcasts.apple.com/ca/podcast/the-stubborn-light-of-things/id1506585676?... 5y

Mtroiano @BookishMe this book is made for kids but it has a description of each bird‘s sound, detailed images, and descriptions of their habitat and food of choice! I think it‘s going be really helpful! 5y
BookishMe Sounds great! Actually those for kids can be more helpful in such topics ;D 5y

I enjoyed birding in Puerto Rico, but I am fascinated by birds in the U.S. This is one of the red-bellied woodpeckers that have been feeding their chicks in my backyard.
