Sherlock Holmes vs. Cthulhu: The Adventure of the Neural Psychoses
Sherlock Holmes vs. Cthulhu: The Adventure of the Neural Psychoses | Lois H Gresh
5 posts | 2 read | 8 to read
The second novel in Lois H. Gresh's Sherlock Holmes vs. Cthulhu series. Amelia Scarcliffe's monstrous brood, harbingers of Cthulhu, will soon spawn. Her songs spell insanity, death... and illimitable wealth. And Moriarty will do anything to get his hands on gold, even if it means tearing down the walls between this world and a realm of horrors. Meanwhile, after Sherlock Holmes's last tangle with the Order of Dagon, horrifying monsters haunt the Thames, and madness stalks the streets of Whitechapel. Gang war between Moriarty's thugs and the powerful cult can only bring more terror--unless Holmes and Dr. Watson can prevent it. But can they find the cause of the neural psychoses before Watson himself succumbs?

Found this intriguing mashup on display at the library. How could I resist? 🐙🕵️
It's either going to be amazing or cringe worthy, right? 😆

vivastory You'll have to let us know your verdict! 5y
Leniverse @vivastory Will do! 5y
julesG I think I've got either this or another book from this series on my shelf. Unread, of course. 🤦🏻‍♀️🙈 5y
Leniverse @julesG That reminds me, I need to renew the loan. I still haven't read this, of course. 😂 5y

This one was even worse than the first one. I didn't bail, but skimmed large parts of it. The author normally writes Lovecraftian books, apparently, and I can't shake the feeling that she would have preferred to leave Holmes out. I would have preferred that, too, because then I wouldn't have read it in the first place! At least I can use it for the #horror prompt of the #SFFTBRChallenge.

Sarah83 I understand that 🤩 6y

I‘m on a roll it seems with amazing books and getting through them in an evening. Why can‘t all my read be like this!? Anyway, my review is now live for this literary cocktail and I couldn‘t recommend it enough. I know I said this about my last read, BUT.... this book is unputdownable! It‘s one of those books that is going to be really freaking awesome, or so so so terrible. It‘s the former! Hands down. Gresh gets the characters Holmes and Watson to a tee and certainly would make Doyle proud. And the lovecraftian elements are PERFECT. I need book one immediately 😍✨ #literarymashup #currentlyreading #cthulhu #sherlock #lovecraftian#scififantasy
