I am so sad this is the last book in the series!
Mycroft seeks revenge and builds up relationships that will serve him well as he moves in the world of power, but he is at his wits ends when it comes to his brother. Their two cases come to a surprising connection and Mycroft starts to accept Sherlock as he is with help from friends and life lessons.
4.5/5 read for a diverse and really interesting Sherlock tale focused on his first case

@kspenmoll I can't thank you enough for the lovely get-well package. The books are right up my mystery alley (especially the SHERLOCK one, which I haven't read 😱) and will keep my mind busy. The pens are perfect for the lovely journal. The LUCY mug is sooo meee! (I called myself “Crabby Abbe“ as a teacher!) and the post card is hysterical. What brought me to my, though, were the worry dolls. I had no idea how much I needed them. 😅 ⬇️

Another excellent book in a good series.
Mycroft receives a diagnosis that makes it hard to justify his hopes for a family, and he tries to help Sherlock develop empathy by tasking him with teaching the boys at Douglas‘s school which leads to Sherlock developing his sleuthing skills as one of the boys mysteriously dies.
4.5/5 read for a fun and historic story with background for Sherlock Holmes and his brother.

37/100 This series of "Further Adventures" of Sherlock Holmes are very hit or miss. I deem this one a definite miss. While the author does a good job mimicking the writing style of Conan Doyle, the story is kind of flat and the ending is seriously anticlimactic. Other SH stories, like The Hounds of the Baskervilles, had supernatural elements, but they were all explained in logical, reality based solution. I was hoping it wouldn't really be the ⬇️

A couple of Sherlock Holmes books I didn't go looking for yesterday, but which I found anyway! ?
I'm pleased to have added Baring-Gould's pseudo biography to my collection: it's a 1962 first edition and treats its subject as if historical, in best Holmesian tradition.
The Public Life of Sherlock Holmes is a 1975 review of "the many ways in which the entertainment industry has used, and misused, the best-known character in all fiction." ?
A fun way to revisit the first two seasons of Sherlock.

I was really pleased with this traditional Sherlockian pastiche, even if the ending did not quite satisfy.
