I love books about dragons and dragon riders. This book felt a little different in that most of the dragons were mean jerks and their riders not much better. In this world, dragon riders are revered but to be one means a painful death will happen probably sooner than later. These dragons can have many riders over their lifetimes.
I liked the story of Anahrod. I think my favorite parts were when she was in the jungle. That was fascinating.
First novella in a fun Sci-fi trilogy with a dash of romance.
There is a heist. And, without spoiling too much, neither Ada nor Rian are what they pretend to be.

Night Watch is a brilliant novel that offers far more than just a fun fantasy read. It's a deep and thought-provoking exploration of duty, justice, and the power of individual choices. Pratchett uses the Discworld setting to shine a light on the human condition, with all its flaws and triumphs, making this book one that will stay with you long after you've turned the final page...
4⭐This is Beth Rivas at her best. This is a fun space romp adventure that manages to pack a ton of action and intrigue into a very small space. The book is not a romance, but has romance in it that makes all readers want to continue flipping the pages. We start with a salvager who is in distress and puts out a help call to another ship. She‘s picked up by the rescue ship and becomes a temporary member of their crew to help with the current mission
Whelp, that was a weird little trip.
Although nicely written, this book is a bit of a clusterfuck of sci-fi and questioning humanity and human existence. I listened to the audio book, and though it was engaging, I definitely found myself wondering “What‘s the point of this book”. Maybe I‘m not in a place to appreciate it right now, but it was a 🤷♀️ for me.
Our joint read for this month (science fiction). Sneaking in a few minutes of reading while waiting for my daughter‘s basketball game to start. This will wrap up our 2024 joint read - my partner and I alternate picks each month to read and discuss.
Novella about a werebear trying to decide between possible love interests: a werewolf, a fae, and a mortal human.
Amusing paranormal rom-com. Not really my genre but I enjoyed it without feeling I must rush out to get more of the genre or the author.
