Confessions of a Teen Sleuth
Confessions of a Teen Sleuth: A Parody | Chelsea Cain
11 posts | 10 read | 20 to read
America's favorite girl detective is back to set the record straight. According to our titian-haired heroine, she was not in fact a fictional character, but an intrepid real-life sleuth who investigated some of the twentieth century's biggest mysteries. And the famous series she starred in was not cooked up by a team of writers, but plagiarized from her exploits by her nosy college roommate Carolyn-who, not surprisingly, got a whole lot wrong. Here are the daring escapes, brilliant hunches, and dependable stock characters, including interlopers from numerous other beloved series, that have delighted generations of fans. And here, also, are the details of teen-sleuth life that you never saw: the secret romances, reckless driving, minor drinking problems, political action, and domestic drama that have, up till now, remained hidden from these brave detectives' adoring public.

A fun parody of Nancy Drew with 10 short mysteries, each in a different era of her life. Along the way she sets the record straight on all the things Carolyn Keene (her obsessive former college roommate) got wrong in her books.
If you enjoyed the old school teen sleuths and have a sense of humor, this is a great book to pick up!

I will admit that I haven't read any of the Drew or Hardy Boys books. That being said, this was still a fun and enjoyable read. I read it because Cain quickly became a favourite author with her HeartSick series. You can see her talent even so early in her career. You can see her passion, her love for her work and her overall quirky and fun personality. This was just so much fun.

I'm loving how Cain has integrated the years of teen sleuthing, most likely inspired by The Hardy Boys and Nancy Drew! 👍👍

Sometimes I wish life was as convenient as a Nancy Drew novel... and yes, that is a Batman bandaid. 👍😃#currentlyreading #librarybook

I love Chelsea Cain's more recent work, which is a tad bit twisted (HeartSick series and One Kick series), but I love reading my favourite authors' early works. It's interesting to see where things all began. I'm glad my #library had this one! #currentlyreading

This book was hilarious!! If you haven't read the Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew you won't get it but as a huge fan of both I found it hilarious. It's a parody of Nancy Drew as she tells the real story of her life. So funny. Other literary detectives kept popping up as well. So enjoyable!!

CocoReads Onto the list it goes! 7y

I was scrolling through my Amazon order history and was reminded this gem which I offer to all you Nancy Drew fans as my #recommendsday suggestion. Nancy Drew is real and determined to set the record straight--providing details on secret romances, minor drinking problems and other drama you might have missed. Fast and fun.
