I don‘t know if #recommendsday is still a thing here, but I sure could use some recommendations. I‘ve been reading the Innkeeper Chronicles by Ilona Andrews and really liking it. I‘m wondering if any #Littens have other urban fantasy suggestions. The fewer vampires the better (if that even exists.)

Scochrane26 I just read A Touch of Darkness, which I think is considered urban fantasy. If you don‘t mind some spice that‘s more on erotica side, it was good. 1w
Sace It sounds interesting! Thanks! 1w
audraelizabeth You could try the mercy thompson series. 1w

Leniverse I second the Mercy Thompson series. There are some vampires there, but they are side characters. Also "Rivers of London". I don't recall any vampires in those, and they are amazing on audio if that's your thing at all. 1w
Luke-XVX I‘m currently reading the 1st book in the Sandman Slim series, only 60 pages in and no vampires so far…. 1w
5feet.of.fury Ilona Andrews has been some of my favorite urban fantasy, if you haven‘t read Burn for Me I‘d suggest that! 1w
5feet.of.fury And I‘ll add another rec for Mercy Thompson, I‘m not caught up, but I keep meaning to get back to it, loved the early books! 1w
Sace @Leniverse I‘ve had the Rivers of London on my shelf forever! @audraelizabeth Thanks! And my library has it available on audio! 1w
Sace @5feet.of.fury Burn For Me recently caught my attention. Thanks! 1w
Sace @Luke-XVX Intriguing! 1w
wanderinglynn Ilona Andrews Kate Daniels series is one of my faves. I also love the Mercy Thompson series & the Alpha & Omega series by Patricia Briggs (1st books Moon Called/Cry Wolf), the Iron Druid series by Kevin Hearne (Hounded), Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris (Dead Until Dark), Dante Valentine series by Lilith Saintcrow (Working for the Devil), Chicagoland Vampires by Chloe Neill (Some Girls Bite) 1w
wanderinglynn Ghost Hunters Mystery by Victoria Laurie (What‘s a Ghoul to do?), Southern Witch series by Kimberly Frost (Would Be Witch), World of the Lupe by Eileen Wilkes (Tempting Danger) - I have more (this is my favorite fantasy sub-genre). 😀 1w
Sace @wanderinglynn the Iron Druid and the Southern Witch series sound good! Thanks! 1w
MeganAnn Echoing all the love for the Mercy Thompson series! I‘m hoping to do a reread of that series sometime later this year. Also one of my favorites is the Hollows series by Kim Harrison (book 1 tagged). It does have some vampires but our main character Rachel is a witch and the world is filled with all kinds of magical creatures including pixies (Jenks, her pixie friend is my favorite), demons, werewolves, elves, etc… 1w
MeganAnn Another of my favorites is The Bone Season series by Samantha Shannon. No vampires. Shannon creates such a richly detailed & unique alternate London that I find fascinating. Definitely read the author‘s revised 10th anniversary editions released last year as she went through & revised the text to make it the story she wanted to write but wasn‘t a good enough writer to pull off at 19 when it was originally published. 1w
MeganAnn @wanderinglynn screenshotting your list so I can look for all the ones I haven‘t read yet! Urban fantasy used to be a favorite genre of mine as well and I‘ve been itching to get back into it recently. 1w
Sace @MeganAnn thanks for the suggestions! 1w
willaful I really enjoyed C.E. Murphy's series that begins with Heart of Stone. 7d
wanderinglynn @MeganAnn totally agree on Kim Harrison‘s Hollows series. And I‘m adding Samantha Shannon to my TBR. 👍🏻 7d
CoffeeK8 I‘ll second mercy Thomas and the other Ilona Andrews. But I also want to recommend K.M. Shea‘s Magiford Series 7d
Sace @CoffeeK8 Oh it sounds really good! Thanks! 7d
Sace @willaful Ooooo…interesting! 7d

#Recommendsday request! I am hoping to travel to South Korea sometime in the next year or two, and of course want to read up before I go. Anyone have any book recommendations to do with Korea? I‘m specifically looking for history, but happy to branch out to other genres.

Susanita This historical novel wasn‘t my cup of tea, but it‘s pretty atmospheric. 1y

Purpleness @Ruthiella Thanks! I have it on hold at the library! 1y
Purpleness @Megabooks Great suggestion! This one I read a year or two ago, and I enjoyed it. 1y
Megabooks A good person to check out is @nelehelen . She isn‘t active on litsy anymore but you can find her on Instagram at @readwithneleh . She is Korean and has a lot of book and all media recs under her #mansemarch hashtag as well as throughout the rest of the year! 1y

Andrew65 This is such a brilliant series. Brilliantly written and with great lead characters, I think they only get better as you work through the series. I‘ve finished 9 of the 12 books. Thoroughly recommend this series but just a warning the murder methods are quite grissly! Well done 👏👏👏 (edited) 2y
CoverToCoverGirl Such high praise from you and @andrew65 on this series, I need to get to it! (edited) 2y
Andrew65 @CoverToCoverGirl Most definitely, one of my favourite crime series. But you need to be happy with gritty crime fiction. 2y
CoverToCoverGirl @Andrew65 is it more gruesome that Karin Slaughter, assuming you‘ve read her of course. 2y
Andrew65 @CoverToCoverGirl No not really, imho. But will be interesting to see what you think when you read it. My wife doesn‘t really like gritty but really enjoys these books. (edited) 2y

I've recently started to zendoodle/zentangle. It's a great way to relax and recenter my thoughts. It's so simple and easy to do. I get ideas and tutorials from Instagram and pinterest. I highly recommend it.

I have a feeling this might be a wild ride with tons of twists and turns. Really hoping that I won't be disappointed with a predictable or anticlimactic conclusion. Luckily, I have great mother-in-laws in my life. Can't imagine dealing with such a horrid person.

And with this second order, I‘m pretty caught up on the Winston Brothers series (was missing Beau) and the side stories that include prominent and side characters. My Reid purchases have been pretty steady lately and she‘s already taking up almost an entire shelf! These covers are probably my favourite. ❤️❤️ #recommendsday

Perfect romance to start February out with. This is such a great trilogy! I can‘t wait to get my hands on the finale: ‘Baby, Don‘t Go‘.

I love 🐝

If you could only recommend ONE book which would it be??? And why?!

#RecommendsDay

Have I said how much I love this mug?! 🖤🐝💛

vlwelser I'm going with this one because it's one of my favorites. It's historical fiction and it pulls you in so hard that you end up thinking vampires might be real. 3y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @vlwelser thank you!! 🧛🏻‍♂️ 3y
wanderinglynn Only 1?!? 🤷🏼‍♀️ Well, if I have to, I guess I‘d go with a story that‘s timeless yet enigmatic, a story that‘s versatile with both optimistic and pessimistic commentary on the future, a story that touches on friendship, love, technological progress, consumption, and ecology, and a story that asks fundamental questions about our existence. 3y
Alwaysbeenaloverofbooks @wanderinglynn sounds wonderful!! 💛 3y
