pickMy first book of 2022! I love everything the Nutcracker, and was so excited to receive this as a gift from my sister. I was nervous going in because usually Nutcracker retellings fall flat. However, this book was fun with a creative twist! I have all the love for little Pyotr❤️ Plus, who can‘t resist that gorgeous cover!?

pickI don‘t know why this has such a low rating on Litsy. It‘s a very creative reimagining of “The Nutcracker”. A very different take with some fascinating world building and interesting themes about the magic in music. Very fairytale like and full of Christmas beauty. I also loved the character of The Nutcracker. A quick but delightful read.

I was very intrigued to read this book after finding out that it was a Nutcracker retelling. What happened after i read it disappointed me. I love The Nutcracker story and love how it makes me think about the holidays. But the way Clara was portrayed was terrible. Not only that but the way an insult was used repeatedly made me roll my eyes. Definitely not a fan.
