The Vendetta Defense | Lisa Scottoline
3 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
Judy Carrier takes the case of her career to defend Anthony Lucia, fondly known as "Pigeon Tony," who freely admits to killing his lifelong enemy in order to settle a personal vendetta. Her client's guilt, however, is only the beginning of Judy's problems. The victim's family wants revenge and is determined to finish off Pigeon Tony and Judy before the case goes to trial. Then there's Pigeon Tony's hunky grandson, who makes Judy think about everything but the law. In a case steeped in blood and memory, it will take brains and a lot of luck to save Pigeon Tony. But if anyone will see justice done, it's this gutsy girl who'll risk everything to win -- including her life.

Pigeon Tony‘s Last Stand isn‘t in the Litsy database, but, since the characters appear in The Vendetta Defense, I tagged it. This is longer than most short stories but shorter than a novella. A group of 80 something year-old men are concerned when their 5th grade neighbor boy is approached by drug dealers wanting him to be a messenger. They decide to do something about it. The ending was a bit rushed. #Audiowalk book was still Finlay Donovan.

It‘s been awhile since I‘ve spent time with the Rosato & Associates series. Lawyer Judy Carrier defends an elderly Italian man, Pigeon Tony, accused of murder. He admitted to killing Angelo Coluzzi because of a vendetta that started more than 50 years ago. Lots of spicy Italian drama and a new love blooms for Judy. An entertaining read with laughable moments in Lisa Scottoline‘s style.

Another great crime novel by Scottoline narrated by Barbara Rosenblatt. Judy, a lawyer at the all female law firm of Rossato & Denunzio, is asked to defend a 79 year old man who killed his enemy, but is quite clear on the fact he didn‘t commit murder. At turns humorous and heartbreaking, filled with quirky, delightful characters, it‘s a entertaining romp through South Philly.
