Princess Puffybottom . . . and Darryl
Princess Puffybottom . . . and Darryl | Susin Nielsen
4 posts | 5 read | 1 to read
What's a pampered cat to do now that she has to compete for attention with an ill-mannered puppy? Award-winning author Susin Nielsen delights in this laugh-a-minute twist on the classic sibling rivalry story. Princess Puffybottom has the perfect life -- her subjects serve her delicious meals, clean up her "delicate matters" and wait on her hand and foot. Life is good . . . until Darryl arrives. Princess Puffybottom thinks he's disgusting, horrid and a true animal. Though she tries everything in her power to banish him (including hypnosis, trickery and even sabotage), it looks like this puppy is here to stay. Can Princess P. and Darryl find a way to co-exist? A hilarious picture book from acclaimed author Susin Nielsen, with adorable illustrations by Olivia Chin Mueller, Princess Puffybottom . . . and Darryl is perfect for not only warring siblings, but also anyone who loves cute pets (and some toilet humor).

Mmurphy I would use this as a RA so my students are able to process the story together and visualize it through the images in the book (3.3)UDL. By giving proper questioning and engaging our listeners they are better able to process the story while seeing it in the pictures.

Mmurphy For my EL‘s I would use TPR during my reading to keep them engaged while having them act out what they are hearing in the story (18). A great resource on how to use TPR would be https://www.theteachertoolkit.com/index.php/tool/total-physical-response-tpr 3y

This book is so cute and funny! We loved Princess Puffybottoms properness and her narration.
This book definitely offers some valuable lessons to children. As well as representation of mixed/blended families. Its one the few children's book I have read where there are two mommies!
And illustrations are so beautiful!
A great little read for kids and families if you like pets or not.

4⭐️ The cat illustrated make a perfect Princess Puffybottom. Black, furry, entitled, ruler of the roost. Until puppy Darryl joins the mix. And Princess wants him gone. The funniest illustrations is Princess trying to hypnotize her subjects to put him out. A simple version, with sweet illustrations, that reminds me a bit of Garfield and Odie. But Princess is much nicer to Darryl than Garfield ever is to Odie.
