Amazing! What a funny MF book that is sure to bring laughter to your classroom. Journey with Ike La Rue as he writes down his excursions in obedience school which can be considered quite dramatic.

For my EL students, we need to make sure to give them enough time to respond on whether or not these letters match his experiences (22).

DrSpalding Much like The Day the Crayons Quit, this book is excellent for teaching children how to write friendly letters. Scholastic is a wonderful, high-quality resource. Read aloud is the appropriate teaching strategy for this quality picture book. 4y

Mmurphy I think this would make a great DR since we see her in her many different outfits. We could have a role for every student to act like her in costume as we go through the story. This will highlight patterns and the big idea of the story (3.2)UDL.

For our EL students, I would reinforce the key ideas of Sylvia Jean in her many outfits to create understanding of the lesson (15).

The Giving Tree | Shel Silverstein

so-so

As someone who missed out on this classic, I found it very interesting to read through the lens of an adult. This P book follows a tree and its relationship with a young boy as they both grow together and apart. This book is considered controversial and is believed to be sexist so please be conscious of that before bringing it into your classroom.

Mmurphy This would be an interesting AS as Shel Silverstein is known for some classis in literature. This would help manage information in resources in teaching our students about different authors (6.3) UDL.

For our EL students, I would have them create a graphic organizer about the author in question so they are able to organize the information to better understand it (7).

DrSpalding It looks like fantasy because of the images but I will believe you that it is realistic fiction. Shared reading is a good idea as long as all students have access to the text. Reading rockets is a high-quality resource and I like the idea of finding resources that support the teaching strategies you plan to implement with your future students. 4y

DrSpalding I still have not seen this movie with Tom Hanks. Your resource is excellent and so is this series. I like the idea of partner reading or even using these books as independent reading as they research an important current day or historical figure. 4y

This is an incredible HF, Christopher award-winning book set in WWII, following the legend of King Christian X of Denmark as he figures out how to best lead his people with the troubling discoveries of living in this war. This book brought me to tears and even though there is no proof of this even actually occurring King Christian was known to stand with the Jewish citizens of Denmark throughout WWII.

We would be using multiple tools for construction and composition of this information by learning the information collected by the different members in the LC (5.2)UDL.

Little Dandelion Seeds the World | Julia Richardson

Wow, I am at a loss of words with this story. I traded this book at my neighborhood‘s book bin and fell in love. This is a RF book following the seeds of a dandelion as it visits every continent and continues forward.

I personally think this is a great read for an Earth day activity and highly recommend. I would use this book for a DR to get everyone up and moving while having them act out the words in the story. This would vary the methods for response and navigation by giving them a physical response and build fluency by acting out the words (4.1)UDL.

Mmurphy For my EL students, they would be using TPR (total physical response.) This DR would allow them to physically respond to understand the story.

DrSpalding I like the inclusion of the pens on your book images. Dramatic reenactment would work well and certainly aligns with total physical response. Hearing the author read aloud the story can be very powerful for students. 4y

AlexRobinson GREAT choice and even better strategy to use! Author studies with books pertaining to diversity and inclusion I always think are best! Being able to understand the passion and story behind the author as to why they wrote such a profoundly insightful book and what the message means to them adds to the meaning of the text for the audience. This book was a gift from my mother, the little girl not only has my nickname but she also reminded her of me growing up with my father. I think books like these are excellent to have in the classroom because it will allowed students to make life connection. It will keep them engaged and wanting to keep reading more books. 4y

This a heartfelt story where our main character Luna, after being raised by a witch and a bog monster, must learn to control the magical powers she was given accidentally. Follow her along through her journey with her tiny dragon, as all the characters discover themselves and the power they have inside.

By doing a RT, students are able to understand the story through another lens to better process the story.
