"A shattering adventure." Jacquelyn Mitchard, bestselling author of The Deep End of the Ocean If only things had been different It is the wrong time to get sick. Speeding down the highway on the way to work, her two little girls sleeping in the back seat, medical resident Claire Rawlings doesn't have time for the nausea overtaking her. But as the world tilts sideways, she pulls into a gas station, runs to the bathroom, and passes out. When she wakes up minutes later, her carand her daughtersare gone. The police have no leads, and the weight of guilt presses down on Claire as each hour passes with no trace of her girls. All she has to hold on to are her strained marriage, a potentially unreliable witness who emerges days later, and the desperate but unquenchable belief that her daughters are out there somewhere. As hopeful and uplifting as it is devastating, Little Lovely Things is the story of a family shattered by unthinkable tragedy, and the unexpected intersection of heartbreak and hope.

As I discovered more of the story & characters It fell quickly in2 a page turner. I anxiously watched the story unfold. Told in multiple prespectives added to the overall feel. Watch the separate journeys of the characters as their separate stories come 2gether, drift apart & reunite at the end. A kidnapping that brings U into the pain, suffering & grief that pulls parents apart, 2 the thriving & survival of a child, 2 the heroism of a stranger.

Mehso-so

This contemporary offering is told from multiple POVs that was stalled by the nonsensical secret language of the Irish Travelling Gypsies (kidnappers). Not only was this hard to understand, but it completely detracted from the narrative. Claire's perspective was where she excelled—the writing was heartbreaking and fervent. The story lost momentum with Moira's (abductor) POV and unfortunately, by extension Andrea/Colleen's (the eldest daughter).

A tense yet moving page-turner about the kidnapping of 2 young girls enjoyed on my recent trip! A thriller with fascinating, diverse characters, sympathy for an antagonist from a Traveler family making bad choices, and a portrait of a marriage responding to tragedy. 4 stars only because the ending, while powerful, tries to wrap things up too quickly. #goodthriller #kidnapping #uniquecharacters #marriage #vacationread

The premise of one‘s 2 children getting abducted is a mom‘s biggest fear, and there‘s a bleak moment & shocked, grieving parents, but I am loving this fast paced thriller with Travelers as the antagonists. Peppered with Shelta, compassion for women with few options, & fascinating descriptions of a renegade, ruthless Traveler clan, this unique story grips you. Thanks @TheNerdyProfessor for this great gift! #SummerSantaGoesPostal

TheNerdyProfessor I'm SO glad you liked that one. I know it wasn't on your list but it sounded right up your alley! Happy reading! 😻 5y

I really enjoyed this book. It made me feel so many emotions, especially as a mom who always worried about something happening to my daughter (still do worry, even though she will be 22). Highly recommend! #littlelovelythings

This book examines how one mother's decision ultimately leads to the kidnapping of her two children. It also considers how people grieve after loss and the ways in which we hide from our sorrows. This book held my attention and I wanted to know how it ended. However, some parts were a bit too neatly settled (in my opinion). It does however feature a wonderful family dog 🐶 A solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐.

Five years ago, I moved out of my home state. Now, whenever I get to see my dad, we make it a tradition to go to the bookstore. Picked up these two books today - I must have been in the mood for a mystery!

Moony Such a wonderful tradition. When I visit my old friend in my native city, we go to the comic store. I love such traditions! 5y

FULL REVIEW https://bit.ly/2UIzL5M

Glen, Claire, Andrea, and Lily had the perfect life until the day Claire had to pull off the road because of dizziness, leave the car running with her daughters in it because of the heat, and then return to find the car and her daughters gone.

LITTLE LOVELY THINGS is heartbreaking, heartwarming, and has 98% likeable characters. 5/5

A decision made quickly carries a high price for Claire Rawlings. A heart-breaking story of child abduction and its aftermath, the fast-paced story pulled me in and refused to let go until the final breath-taking scene.

Little Lovely Things is the story of a family shattered by an unthinkable tragedy. Played out in multiple narrative voices, the novel explores how the lives of those affected fatefully intersect, and highlights the potential catastrophe of the small decisions we make every day.

FULL REVIEW ON APRIL 10.

Glen, Claire, Andrea, and Lily had the perfect life until the day Claire had to pull off the road because of dizziness, leave the car running with her daughters in it because of the heat, and then return to find the car and her daughters gone.

For a debut novel, Ms. Connolly definitely knows how to put words together to make a fast-paced, tense, unable-to-put-down read with memorable characters. 5/5

AmyG I just saw read a blurb about this. Good to know it‘s good. 5y
