Just getting into this one. I don't read a great deal of Sci-fi, the last probably being Becky Chambers' Wayfarers series - which I absolutely loved.

An interesting concept that falls short of it's full potential. Emily is an interesting character who doesn't quite fully materialise on the page whilst other characters flit through the story as mere vessels for Emily. Wheaton makes the Sci-fi writer mistake of getting too smart in places meaning I lost interest and the story never quite recovers.

I am posting one book per day from my extensive to-be-read collection. No description or reason for wanting to read the book. Some are old and some will be new. Don't judge me - I have a lot of books.
Day 350

I really enjoyed this book more than I thought I would. I enjoyed the ending greatly but I would of preferred it more without the epilogue as it kinda cut the genuineness of the final scenes with Emily and her sister. It was nice seeing them accept their fate together knowing they would be the last things they would ever see and not knowing if Emily‘s idea had worked at all.
Emily is smart and emotional and genuine. She cares so much even though she know that she actually doesn‘t or shouldn‘t.
⭐ ⭐ ⭐ for this SF story of an artificial intelligence which has been trained to work as a psycho-therapist, but has much greater capabilities to be exploited by several desparate groups on the brink of global annihilation. The AI herself was quite charming. The story was lacking for me.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I really enjoyed this book. It‘s a quick, easy read but it still delivered great story and fairly well-developed characters given the length of the book. I particularly liked the way Emily was written - she may be an A.I. (or an “A.C.” if you ask her) but she still came across as an extremely relatable character and that definitely added to my appreciation of Wheaton‘s work.
Also using this for my #popsugar19 “uni campus” read 👩🏼🏫
This was a pretty good ride. The end didn‘t really land for me, but it‘s a really interesting concept.
I don‘t read enough SciFi anymore, so I hope this scratches that itch for me.
Attending a book club that is held in a book store is, as it turns out, extremely dangerous. 📚💸💸

Following some formatting issues I have a new copy.
Not sure whether I really like Emily but am interested to see where this goes.
