pickThe Holland America cruise ship Zaandam set sail in March 2020 just as the world began to shut down. The ship then exploded with a horrific Covid outbreak and no where to dock. They struggled at sea for weeks as people grew sicker and died, and still no country would allow these passengers to disembark. I reminder of the scary early days of Covid. No cruises for me. Yikes.
pick⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I was so preoccupied in March 2020 that I don‘t even remember this story. With very poor judgment, a cruise ship set out to sea, then the world abruptly shut down. No one would let them dock. This is the absolutely horrifying story of the Zaandam, it‘s crew, passengers, and helpers. A truly compulsive read! I 100% agree with @Megabooks - one of my fave nonfiction reads of the year.

Well, mid-March a group of people set sail around South America betting their cruise ship would outrun Covid. Spoiler alert: it didn‘t. This is the story about how cruising on the Zaandam became a deadly nightmare for both passengers and crew.
This is my favorite narrative nonfiction of the year so far. Highly recommend!
