The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear, is a Fictional picture book about a cute little mouse who would like to have a big ripe strawberry for lunch. But, we the reader warn him about a big bear who can smell strawberries from miles away! Why do you think we would do this if the bear isn‘t real? Read on to find out! #ucflae3414su20

CameoD This book aligns with UDL principle 3.2, because the reader becomes the one speaking to the mouse, so we must ensure the students understand relationships and the bigger ideas. Esol strategy 15 would work nicely with this book because the key ideas remain the same, and we reinforce them. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=P1zbzvSKLww is lovely reading of the story. 4y
DrSpalding No teaching strategy? You needed to use the website resource and expand on it, aligning an appropriate teaching strategy. The teaching strategies were noted on the log. For example, read aloud, readers theater, storytelling, author study, dramatic reenactment, shared reading… 4y

The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear written by Don and Audrey Wood is an MF book written for grades Pre K- 1. Will the little mouse be able to keep the red ripe strawberry from the big hungry bear? Read to find out!
This book would be best RA to young students or can be presented through storytelling.

Students can use cutouts from this website to retell the story of The Little Mouse, The Red Ripe Strawberry, and The Big Hungry Bear. This would be great so the students can remember key ideas and events that happened in the story!

AshleyH UDL-Highlight patterns, critical features, big ideas, and relationships (3.2) ]
This aligns with the activity.
EL- 15. Reinforce the key ideas you present again and again
All students will retell the story using the character cutouts. This will reinforce key ideas.

CameoD Ashley this book storytelling was so cute! It reminded me of the first time I heard this book as a little kid :) It‘s such a classic and one that evert teacher needs on their bookshelf. I also love the resource you have with it! Awesome 4y
JessicaO Hi, Ashley! I remember you doing this book for your storytelling and it was so cute and fun to hear! Your EL and UDL work perfectly. I think with this book, we need to emphasize the fact that there really was no bear and highlight the intentions of the narrator again and again! Thank you for sharing:) 4y
DrSpalding Read aloud or storytelling would work well. You found a helpful resource that would aid retention of the key ideas and events that happened in the story. Well done. 4y

The Little Mouse, the Red Ripe Strawberry, and the Big Hungry Bear is a MF picture book about a mouse who discovers an enormous strawberry that he wants to keep for himself and away from a big hungry bear. This book is great in how it teaches children the importance of sharing. Would recommend for a young classroom.

This is a great source for some activities in class that uses the book.

MarkZalewski The UDL principle I would apply for this would be Foster collaboration and community (8.3), as the story teaches about sharing and a sense of community 5y

I LOVED reading books to my kids when they were little, and using different voices and dramatic flair. One of my 3 year old grandkids is getting this book from Nana this Christmas, and probably a dramatic reading of it!
